Contractor Information


License and Bond Required

No contractor shall work within the Village of Glendale Heights without first obtaining a license. A Contractor's registration form must be submitted with a corporate surety bond.

If you are now engaged or have obligations to do work in the Village, please complete the application for a contractor's license and submit your check for the appropriate amount.

Community Development also accepts submissions via mail, drop box, fax and email. Mail should be sent to the attention of Community Development at Village Hall and include your check. Do not send cash via mail. Faxes can be sent to 630.260.1317 and emails sent to permits@glendaleheights.org after payment has been arranged with our staff.

A $20,000 surety or license permit bond is required by any contractor doing construction work in the Village. The original bond must be signed and on file in the Community Development Department. Bonds and licenses must be submitted PRIOR to the issuance of a building permit.

Exemption: Electricians and plumbers shall be exempt from purchasing a Village license, but must submit a copy of their city or state registration for the current year, a Village contractor license application and the appropriate surety or license permit bond.

The inspection card shall be posted in a conspicuous place in such a position as to allow the inspector to conveniently make entries thereon.

Duties and Responsibilities of All Contractors

Remove waste material from the premises, keep premises clean and unobstructed. Contractors shall at least once a week remove or cause to have removed from the site, all trash, refuse and waste material.

Roofing Contractors

The Illinois Roofing Industry Licensing Act (225 ILCS 1996, Act 335, et seq) which became effective July 1, 1985, requires the Illinois Department of Registration and Education to regulate the roofing industry in Illinois.

The law mandates that the official who issues building permits shall affix the roofing contractor's license number to each application for a building permit, and on each building permit issued and recorded.

The roofing contractor is required to affix the license number to all contracts and bids. His name and license number also must be affixed to all vehicles used as part of his roofing business and shall be posted at his place of business.

Persons engages in the business of roofing who are not state licensed may be fined up to $1,000 for a first offense and for subsequent offenses may be guilty of a Class A Misdemeanor.
