North Ave Construction: Expect delays and take alternate routes
On Monday, April 22nd, construction will begin on the resurfacing project for North Avenue between Gary Ave and IL-53. The project will include road patching, curb and gutter, ADA and sidewalk improvements, and an asphalt surface on North Avenue. The construction may take place during the day or at night so please extreme caution in these sections. The construction is expected to last for much of the summer, and commuters are advised to seek alternative routes and expect major delays in these construction areas. Please note: This is an IDOT Project and is NOT being overseen by the Village. The general contractor for the project is RW Dunteman Co from Addison, IL. The project is being overseen by Mr. Orrin James, IDOT Resident Engineer. He can be contacted at 708-741-7578 or

One Stop Reuse and Recycling Depot
Do you have unwanted or old cell phones, retired U.S. Flags, bikes, batteries and other recyclables? Drop them off at the One Stop Reuse & Recycling Depot on Saturday, April 27 from 10:00 am to noon. All items can be dropped off at the GH2O Aquatic Center parking lot located at 240 Civic Center Plaza. Items not accepted include hazardous waste, paint, and CFL bulbs. All televisions or monitors will only be accepted by purchasing a voucher from or via credit card at the event. Please note: there will be document shredding at this event; limit 2 boxes per vehicle.

Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation
The Village of Glendale Heights values water conservation efforts, which is why we are continuing to participate in the National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation. Conserving water is a critical piece in securing resources for generations to come and our residents understand the importance of this effort. Continuing this effort will enable residents to conserve and protect our water resources!

Glendale Heights Chamber of Commerce Scholarships
The Glendale Heights Chamber of Commerce has a number of scholarships available in the community! Established in 2000, the Kathy Guzlas Scholarships consists of scholarships totaling $3,000. These scholarships are for high school seniors going to college that have shown strong leadership, volunteerism and academics in high school. In addition to the Kathy Guzlas Scholarships, two additional scholarships are available. A scholarship is available for a child of a service member on active duty or a service person that recently left the military and is planning on a post-secondary education as well as a scholarship for a student who has completed two years of post-secondary education and is excelling in their given area of study.
