The Magic of the Pendulum (Ages 13 & Up)

Deep in our subconscious we have access to a huge body of knowledge about the world around us, about others and ourselves, and about how things work. By interpreting the movements of a swinging pendulum, you can communicate with the depths of your subconscious mind and tune into your intuition. The pendulum is a highly effective tool that bridges the gap between your logical left brain and your intuitive right brain. Learn how to program and use your pendulum and tap the unlimited potential of your own mind. Pendulums will be available to purchase, or bring your own.

Creating a Vision Board (Ages 13 & Up)

Vision boards allow you to set clear intentions for the future; while revealing your inner hopes and desires. By selecting words and pictures of the things you wish to manifest in your life, you can bring clarity, focus, and intent to your dreams; sending a clear message to the universe of the goals you have. By keeping your focus firmly on your goals, all the actions you take will bring you closer to manifesting your vision as reality. Create your vision board and clarify your intentions. Please bring pictures and words showing your dreams; other materials will be supplied.

Keeping a Gratitude Journal (Ages 13 & Up)

Learn a more positive way of thinking, and appreciate the things you have. A recent study has found that people who keep a gratitude journal, in which they wrote down the things they are grateful for, were less likely to be stressed and unhappy than those people who did not keep a journal. Real life isn't always perfect; it doesn't always go our way, however the recurring acknowledgment of what is working in your life can help you not only survive, but surmount your difficulties, and become a better person.

Introduction to Chinese Health Balls (Ages 16 & Up)
Discover the secrets of Chinese Health Balls; an exercise system that has been in use for 2,000 years. They can improve strength, flexibility, dexterity and circulation in the fingers, hands and wrists. They can relieve joint stiffness and soreness, relax muscles and joints. Their use can reduce the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, repetitive strain injury, rheumatism and arthritis. They are deeply relaxing, can help reduce stress, improve overall health, stimulate the mind and reduce your risk of cognitive decline, dementia and Alzheimer's. Each class participant will receive one free set of Health Balls.

Exercise for Mental Muscle (Ages 16 & Up)

Exercise for Mental Muscle is a class of enjoyable, relaxing and simple movements that may stimulate whole-brain learning; allowing participants to access parts of the brain previously untapped, making learning easier and more fun, recollection quicker and more vivid. Using physical exercises based on the principles of Tai Chi, Reflexology and Traditional Oriental Medicine, we may stimulate the brain to learn and grow. Scientific studies have shown that physical exercise can stimulate the growth of new brain cells and improve memory and the ability to learn. Suitable for all ages and abilities, participants may choose to sit or stand as needed.

Walking the Finger Labyrinth (Ages 16 & Up)

The labyrinth is not a maze; it is a single path to the center of the self. Using a wooden finger labyrinth you will bring the walking labyrinth to a convenient easily usable format. When tracing a finger labyrinth, you get the impression of going on a long journey with many twists and turns, getting closer then further away before finally reaching your destination. While tracing the sacred geometry of the labyrinth, the combination of movement and introspection is used as a form of guided meditation, allowing you to gain peace and engage in mystery for personal and spiritual renewal. Labyrinths can provide a unique way to gain renewed vitality and meaning. Experience relief from the stressors of daily life and solve problems using this mindful technique.

Composting - Building Your Garden from the Ground Up
(Ages 16 & Up)

Stop throwing out those banana peels, leaves, and egg shells! Composting is nature's way of recycling and helps to reduce the amount of waste we put in our garbage. By composting kitchen and garden waste, you can easily improve the quality of your soil and be well on your way to a more beautiful garden. People Training for Dogs – Beginner (Ages 12 & Up)

Does your dog take you for a walk or run away when you call him? This fun class will teach you how to recognize and control problems before they become unmanageable. Your dog will learn to heel, sit, down, stay, stand for a veterinary exam, and come when called. All dogs are required to be up to date on immunizations (Rabies, Parvo and Distemper) with a negative stool sample checked no more than two weeks prior to the first class and documented by your pet's veterinarian. Please do not bring your dog to the first day of the beginner class only. No Class on 7/3 or 9/4. Location: Aldrin Community Center

Prepare your dog for off-leash control and increased leash reliability. This class will also cover skills needed to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen test and the AKC Obedience Trials. If you don't have the best-mannered dog on the block after completion, you can repeat the program for free (same dog, same handler)! Dog Sports Academy (Ages 12 & Up)

Get a taste of dock diving, flyball, and agility with man's best friend! Let your dog fly with an introduction to diving off docks. Race over hurdles and catch a tennis ball to win the relay in flyball. Test out the obstacles in an agility course. Each sport will be featured for two weeks so Fido can pick a favorite to focus on next season. This course is for dogs one year and older. Dogs three to twelve months are welcome but will be restricted from some of the obstacles. Dogs should have basic doggy manners, be people and dog friendly, and have an understanding of sit, stay, and come when called. No class on 7/2. Location: Paw Law Dog Training, 33 Gromer Rd., Elgin
