Purpose: These rules are established as written guidelines for the use of Village of Glendale Heights parks and recreational facilities. These rules are intended to secure and preserve the fullest enjoyment of the parks and recreational facilities to a wide range of park patrons. Failure to abide by these rules shall be cause for removal and or arrest.
- All parks are open from dawn to dusk unless otherwise posted. Certain lighted baseball fields, lighted tennis courts, lighted skate park, lighted ice rinks, and lighted basketball courts shall remain open as permitted.
- Motorized vehicles are only allowed on designated roadways and parking areas. The speed limit is 10 miles per hour. Cruising is prohibited in any restricted area.
- Bicycles are only allowed on paved areas and bike paths.
- Permits are available at the Parks and Recreation Department administrative offices for group rentals and community events.
- The Director or designee may close areas to the public or otherwise restrict use until such time as the area or facility can be made available for public use. Notice of closure shall be posted and patrons shall not enter a restricted area.
- Persons bringing pets or other animals into outdoor park areas shall keep them under confinement or direct control. Leads on leashes used to control animals shall not be more than six feet long. Patrons shall not permit a pet or other animal to remain unattended or create a disturbance or a hazard. Pet owner shall be responsible to pick up and dispose of dog feces.
- Outdoor grills are available for picnic use. No person may light, build or maintain a fire in any other area without permission from the director or designee. Patrons must completely extinguish all fires before leaving the park. Never throw lighted matches, burning cigarettes or other flammable material in any park area.
- Alcoholic beverages are only permitted in the parks if approved in writing by the Liquor Commissioner.
- Swimming, bathing, and wading may take place only in places provided for these activities.
- Trash must be placed in trash containers. If trash containers are not provided, trash must be taken with you to avoid littering.
- Playground areas have been designed for age appropriateness, generally under the age of 12 years old. Patrons should be mindful of the appropriateness of the apparatus and use caution when engaged in play.
- Patrons should cooperate in the keeping of the restrooms and washrooms in a neat and sanitary condition.
The Village of Glendale Heights PROHIBITS:
- Damaging, disturbing or removing any part of a park site, including animal and plant life.
- Dumping or storage of personal items, which includes yard waste (grass clippings, leaves, and branches).
- The use of bikes, skate boards, roller blades, or skates on tennis courts, patio areas, playground areas, and athletic fields.
- At no time shall skates, bikes, roller blades, or skateboards be allowed on benches, rail ledges, and ramps within any park except within the skate park located at Camera Park.
- Bottles, containers, or other items made of glass.
- Golfing and golf practice.
- Roller hockey, skateboarding, basketball, baseball, etc. on the tennis courts.
- Feeding the geese.
- Solicitation, vending, advertising, or sign posting except by special permission of the Director or designee.
- Operate or use any audio devise or musical instrument in such a manner and at such times so as to create excessive noise or nuisance.
- Use obscene or objectionable language or gestures. Engage in disruptive, destructive, or hazardous conduct.
- Obstruct or reasonably interfere with the general public in their normal use of the park.
- Overnight parking of vehicles that are not approved by the Village.
